Regional Solutions For Regional Problems : Ahmadinejad

Tehran, Feb 16, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Thursday that “regional problems have only regional solutions.” President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in an interview prior to his travel to Pakistan to attend the third tripartite summit between Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said regional problems should be solved through cooperation and mutual respect among the countries in the region. Foreign meddling in the regional affairs has caused many problems for the regional states, Afghanistan in particular, said Iran’s president. He added the presence of foreign forces in the region has threatened regional peace and stability. About the Islamabad summit, President Ahmadinejad said the trilateral summit aims to solve regional problems and trilateral issues. The Iranian president said the three countries of Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan enjoy deep historical ties and should promote cooperation not to let the enemies dominate the region. He then hoped the Islamabad summit would find new ways to further convergence and solidarity among the regional nations./end
