Regional stability vital to Russian-Azerbaijani military cooperation, Lavrov emphasizes

BAKU, December 3. /TASS/. Moscow and Baku are cultivating bilateral military and technical cooperation in full compliance with international law and are taking into account the balance that is vital for maintaining the region’s stability, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday. Speaking at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov, Lavrov stressed that military and technical cooperation is a key area for the strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan. "We are fostering this cooperation with full transparency and in total compliance with international law, while completely taking into account the balance in the region, which is vital for preserving stability here," he emphasized. Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s summit in Bishkek that the post-Soviet security bloc’s members should not sell weapons to Azerbaijan.
