Released Iranian Hostages In Libya Arrive Home

Tehran, Oct 7, IRNA - Seven released Iranian aid workers who were kidnapped in Libya arrived here Sunday morning. The Iranians who were aid workers of Iran's Red Crescent Society were captured by an unknown armed group on July 30, 2012 in the city of Benghazi. Since then, intensive negotiations were carried out in Tripoli, Tehran, Mecca, and New York for their release. The kidnapped Iranians were finally released after 65 days and were handed over to Iran embassy in Tripoli. Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi had already told reporters that kidnapped Iranians were released following contacts and intensive negotiations with Libyan officials and local officials of Benghazi city. He reiterated that they were all in good health. Reports said that an official welcoming ceremony is to be held for the group later in the day at the site of the country's Red Crescent Society./end
