Religious Amity, Goal Of Upcoming GA Of Islamic Radio And Television Union

Tehran, May 21, IRNA -- Amity among followers of different religions and the Muslim unity against occupation of Palestine are among topics of 7th General Assembly of Islamic Radio and Television Union slated for May 25-27, secretary general Ali Karimian said on Monday. He told a press conference that the motto of “media of resistance: confrontation with religious sedition” make up for agenda of the Assembly. Representatives of 300 radio and TV stations from the Islamic states will take part in the Assembly due to be held in Tehran. IRNA reporter said that Mohammad Mehdi Shariatmadar, deputy secretary general of IRTVU and director of Islamic Film Market Mohammad Ali Anoosheh were present in the press conference. They explained details of the 7th General Assembly of IRTVU, the 5th Islamic Film Market Festival, the 5th Ettehad Festival and the 4th Exhibit of Media Equipment and Technology scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the Assembly. Karimian said that transmission facility for television and radio signals including the satellite radio, television internet access providers are under monoply of the arrogant powers causing roadblocks for the Muslim countries’ radio and TV stations. He rejected the alleged operation of extremist religious radio and TV stations in Qom and said that most of extremist stations work in the US, the EU states and certain Arab states to provoke sectarian violence in the Muslim countries. Karimian said that the 7th General Assembly of IRTVU in Tehran will coincide with the first General Assembly of Palestinian Radio and Television Union due to be held in Gaza./end
