Religious Leader Foresees Positive Changes Under Iran’s NAM Leadership

Islamabad, Oct 3, IRNA – Central leader of Pakistan’s top religious party on Tuesday said that world will soon witness changes in international politics under Iran as the chairman of Non-Aligned Movement. Talking to IRNA, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said that western conspiracies cannot shake the steadfastness of Iranian leaders. He said that it is very encouraging for the Muslim Ummah and oppressed countries of world that Iran has become the chairman of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). Religious leader went on to say that it is a message for the western world that majority of the world states are standing with Iran and the Islamic Republic is not isolated at the international scene. However, he pointed out that some of the NAM members states are practically in American camp. “We have to go a long way to counter the anti-Islam policies of the West,” Liaqat Baloch opined. Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Secretary General said that Western bias against Muslims must come to an end. “They have to shun the selective attitude,” he demanded. Religious leader was of the view that legal protection to the religious beliefs is inevitable. He added that there is a need to protect the sanctity of the faith of billions of Muslims. “United Nations should come forward and promulgate a law as par its charter to stop the acts of blasphemy under the pretext of freedom of speech,” he stressed. Liaqat Baloch expressing his opinion said that it is the responsibility of Muslim world to take strong action against those who target the sanctity and dignity of Holy Prophet (PBUH). He said that unity of Ummah is inevitable as the capitalist system is on the verge of collapse. “The West is afraid of the strength of Muslims and is trying to weaken Ummah by violating the sovereignty of Muslim states,” noted the religious leader. “We have to make a platform to fight the western anti-Islam propaganda,” he advised. JI leader said that Iran is an important country of the world and has attained the status after a decade long struggle. He said West has been trying to undermine the Islamic Revolution but they have failed to accomplish their evil designs against the Islamic Republic. Liaqat Baloch said Iranian leaders have proved that western conspiracies cannot shake their steadfastness. He asked all Muslim countries to support Iran in fighting the western schemes against Ummah./end
