Religious Leader Strongly Condemns Terrorist Attack On Holy Shrine In Syria

Islamabad, July 22, IRNA - A Pakistani religious leader on Sunday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the holy shrine of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) in the suburbs of the Syrian capital, Damascus, and said that those involved in the attack cannot be called as Muslims. Talking to IRNA, Secretary General Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen (MWM) Raja Nasir Abbas Jaffery said that imperialist forces are using ‘Takfiris’ to divide Muslims. He said that Takfiri approach is a permanent nuisance for Muslims. “They are carrying out their activities to weaken the Islamic world,” he viewed. He reiterated that the attack on the Syrian holy shrine is a shameful act, saying the MWM has organized protests all over Pakistan to condemn the attack. He called on the United Nations and the OIC to fulfill their responsibilities towards safeguarding Islamic sanctities. He said that Muslim countries should stand united to stop such heinous crimes. Jaffery was confident that anti-Islam forces would not be able to accomplish their evil designs. On Friday, foreign-backed militants operating inside Syria fired mortar shells on the holy shrine of Hazrat Zaynab (AS). Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to the United Nations, more than 90,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced due to the foreign-sponsored violence./end
