Rodong Sinmun Assails Visits to Yasukuni Shrine by Descendents of Japanese Militarists

Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- Japanese politicians were busy visiting Yasukuni Shrine on the anniversary of the Japanese imperialists' defeat in the war. The Minister of Internal Affairs and other Cabinet ministers swarmed to it in the wake of the chief executive's ritual offering to it. 67 lawmakers also vied with each other to visit it. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Monday says: No matter in what form "memorial service" was held, to "honor the memory" of the militarist war criminals is an insult to tens of millions of people who met grievous death at their hands. Lurking behind the Japanese reactionaries' desperate pursuance of visits to the shrine while mocking at human conscience and justice is a sinister intention to train as many as possible descendants of militarists to be used as a shock brigade for Japan's reinvasion. It is their invariable ambition to realize the old dream of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere." The hearts of the Japanese militarists burned with the invariable will to take revenge for their defeat even at the moment they were bitterly conceding their defeat more than seven decades ago. However, the defeated Japan is sadly mistaken. Its scenario for launching reinvasion is as foolish an act as throwing itself into the abyss of ruin. Just as erstwhile fascist Japan suffered a bitter defeat in the war of aggression it launched to emerge "leader of the East," the descendants of the militarists are fated to meet the same doom as they are rushing headlong into militarism, bringing back the "departed soul of Yamato". -0-
