Rodong Sinmun Blasts Japan's Extreme Repressive Racket against Chongryon

Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries have gone extreme in their repressive racket against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). They are running wild like hungry wolves. Days ago right-wing gangsters brought dozens of loudspeaker vans to blare "Expel Chongryon from Japan." The ruling Liberal Democratic Party is trumpeting about an action to put on the list of prohibiting the reentry into Japan more Chongryon officials returning after visiting the DPRK and tighten the measure to limit remittance of money. Commenting on the above-said ruckus, Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes: These are nothing but the reckless moves of those scared by the inexhaustible might of Juche Korea making a long drive under the banner of simultaneously developing the two fronts. Looking back on history, the Japanese reactionaries have been apt to groundlessly pull up the DPRK and direct the spearhead of their anti-DPRK campaign to Chongryon whenever there took place events in the DPRK to demonstrate its national power. As lots of scenarios worked out by the Japanese authorities to isolate and stifle the DPRK proved to be unworkable, they have gone so wicked and desperate as to crack down on Chongryon and the Koreans in Japan. The Japanese authorities have legal and humanitarian obligations to guarantee the rights of the Koreans in Japan and properly treat them in the light of the historical background against which they were forced to settle in Japan and the legitimate status of Chongryon. However, Japan has persecuted and suppressed Koreans in Japan under absurd pretexts, refusing to make apology and reparation for its past crimes for the last more than seven decades. This is adding to its thrice-cursed crimes committed against the Korean nation. The DPRK can no longer remain a passive onlooker to the compatriots suffering pain in Japan. The army of Songun Korea has built its military muscle to have the nation's pent-up grudge settled. It will never pardon those who hurt the destiny and vital rights of the Koreans but mercilessly punish them. -0-
