Rodong Sinmun on Fair International Relations Based on Independence

Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun on Monday says in an article that the international situation requires all the countries and nations to come out to build fair international relations based on independence. Independence is the life and soul and dignity of a country and nation and the symbol of a sovereign and independent state, the article says, and goes on: Only when independence of each country is maintained, can the legacy of domination and subordination be eradicated, genuine equal relations be formed between countries and nations and fair international relations be established. If a country which has regime fails to maintain independence and dances to the tune of others, it can neither be called a genuine sovereign and independent state nor exercise its independent right in external relations. Every country and nation should shape external policies based on their independent judgment and decision and carry them out with consistency and principle as they are responsible for their destiny. Respecting independence of other countries as well as maintaining independence of one's country is one of important conditions for establishing fair international relations. There can be no superior and inferior countries, and nations dominating others and those obliged to be dominated in the world. Every country and nation should neither allow their independence get violated nor violate independence of others. Now that lots of countries on the earth have the shared interests in the development of international relations and world civilization as members of the international community, they can establish friendly relations with each other and contribute to the establishment of fair international relations when they have the stand of respecting independence of other countries. -0-
