Rohani’s WAVE Proposal Will Bring Peace, Stability In World: Former Diplomat

Islamabad, Dec 24, IRNA – Former Pakistani ambassador has said that approval of a resolution by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) based on President Hassan Rohani’s World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) proposal would bring peace and stability in the world. Talking to IRNA former envoy to the UAE, Air Marshal (Retd) Syed Qaiser Hussain said that Iran has once against shown to the world that Iranians are the peace loving nation and has never pursued path of aggression. He added that the UN, the EU, international institutions and rulers of the countries in the region must comply with the resolution, opposing religious extremism. The analyst said that Iran after the success of the Islamic Revolution, led by Imam Khomeini, has always respected the independence of other countries and raised a strong voice against extremism. Some 190 countries cast positive votes on Iran’s proposal to denounce extremism and violence at the United Nations General Assembly. President Hassan Rouhani in his address at the UN General Assembly in September offered Iran’s proposal to denounce extremism and violence. Air Marshal (Retd) Syed Qaiser Hussain was of the opinion said that Iran has successfully defeated all conspiracies with extraordinary patience. Former deputy chief of the Pakistan Air Force viewed that the international community, especially the Islamic nations must take effective measures to ensure the independence of the Islamic world. He said Pakistan has become the victim of terrorism and extremism but the UN resolution on Iranian proposal would help it combat extremism to save the country from such a menace. Syed Qaiser Hussain has served as acting chief of the Pakistan Air Force. After retirement he was appointed as Pakistan’s ambassador to UAE./end
