Rohani Asks West To Adopt Path Of Justice In UN Speech: Analyst

Islamabad, Sept 28, IRNA – A Pakistani senior analyst on Friday termed as dignified the speech of Iranian President Hassan Rohani at United Nations General Assembly and said that the President had demanded west to adopt path of justice towards Muslims. Talking to IRNA Lieutenant General (retd) Abdul Qayyum said that west must accept Iran’s peaceful nuclear right and stop putting unjustified pressure on the Islamic Republic. Iranian President Hassan Rohani delivered a speech at the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Iranian President presented a clear picture of the current situation of the Middle East and the world, and gave his proposed solutions for coming out of the current international deadlock. Lieutenant General (retd) Abdul Qayyum expressing his views said that the speech of the Iranian President was a balanced one. “It was a good speech,” he said. The analyst said that the suggestion of Iranian President to curb the menace of extremism is very important. He said that it is very good suggestion for Pakistan because we are the victim of extremism. The intellectual was of the view that west must accept Iran’s peaceful nuclear right. “The pressure on Iran rearguing their nuclear activities is unnecessary,” he said. He went on to say that the speech of Iranian president is appreciable in which he had given a categorical statement on global issues. The analyst said that justice must prevail in the world. “Zionist Regime is developing nuclear weapons but the world has not taken any action to stop the illegitimate state to implement its evil designs,” said Abdul Qayyum. He added that President Rohani has clearly said that Iran has no plans to make nuclear weapons because it is prohibited in Islam. The analyst said that Iran has always pursued the path of peace. He said that disputes must be settled through dialogue and not wars. The analyst said that US had failed to achieve anything by attacking Iraq and Afghanistan rather they have placed the world in a dangerous situation. Lieutenant General (retd) Abdul Qayyum said that crisis in Syria can only be resolved through dialogue which the west has to understand. The analyst strongly believed that UN must be made a potent and impartial organization. He said that US should stop using UN for its own interests. He went on to say that President Hassan Rohani has rightly hit out at America’s use of drones. “These are counterproductive and have been killing innocent people,” he viewed. He said that use of drones is sheer violation of countries’ sovereignty and against the charter of the United Nations. Abdul Qayyum is a retired 3 star general of Pakistan Army. He appears frequently in television talk shows and is a well-known critic of American foreign policies pertaining to Pakistan./end
