Rouhani Calls For Strong Measures To Deal With Terrorism In Sistan-Baluchestan Province

Tehran, Oct 27, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani sent a message on Saturday to the families of border-guards who fell victim to terrorist operation in Saravan, Sistan-Baluchestan province and urged the interior ministry to take strong measures to deal with terrorism. In his message, President Rouhani expressed sorrow over the deaths of the border-guards in the province and said that the ill-wishers have cast their covetous eyes on Iranian independence and they have targeted the border-guards who are protecting the country’s territorial integrity. It is a sorrow to hear martyrdom of a group of border-guards serving to protect national sovereignty in struggle with a terrorist group but there is no doubt that a single drop of the martyrs blood will bring prestige, dignity and security for the great Iranian nation, he said. The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to strongly deal with such atrocities, he said adding that to the same reason I ask the interior minister to form a special committee in coordination with police to pursue the case at the earliest. He urged the interior minister to provide a report about the terrorist operation as soon as possible and called on ministry of foreign affairs to work out a security deal with Pakistan to thwart repetition of such lawlessness. “Let me express my condolences to the bereaved families, the entire nation, and the Supreme Leader on the tragedy,” he said. Terrorists martyred 14 border-guards and wounded 6 others taking three soldiers hostages in an ambush in Saravan last night./end
