Rouhani Discusses Issues Of Interest With Slovenian President

New York, Sept 25, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani discussed issues of mutual interest with Slovenian President Borut Pahor here in New York on Wednesday. In the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Rouhani said there is great capacity for cooperation and development of ties between Iran and Slovenia in all fields. Rouhani said relations with Europe are important for Iran and expressed hope that Slovenia, as a member of European Union, help for a common understanding and development of cooperation between Iran and EU. Referring to unrest in the region and the world, Rouhani stressed that establishment of tranquility and security in the region and getting rid of terrorism can be achieved by collective cooperation. Confirming viewpoints of the Slovenian president about development of bilateral ties, Rouhani called for contacts between private sectors of the two countries. Borut Pahor, for his part, expressed pleasure for the meeting with Iranian counterpart and called the meeting as a strong sign of intention of both countries for strengthening political, economic and cultural ties, adding there is no obstacle for expansion of relations between the two countries and there are plenty of opportunities for deepening mutual relations. He added that there are huge opportunities to create a big development in relations, in case of lifting imposed sanctions. Pahor expressed hope that international community consider Iran as an island of peace and stability in the sensitive region of the Middle East. He expressed his country's full readiness to follow up bilateral ties and added that he , personally, will follow up development of economic ties between the two countries. President Rouhani is in New York to attend the 69th meeting of the UN General Assembly./end
