Rouhani, Erdoğan discuss various regional, intl. issues

TEHRAN, Apr. 08 (MNA) – Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on Tuesday in an official visit made at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani. Heading a high-ranking delegation, the Turkish president was welcomed by Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi upon arrival at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport. Bilateral talks between President Rouhani and President Erdoğan took place today in Sadabad Palace in Tehran. During the talks, the most important issues of mutual interest as well as regional and international issues were discussed. The two sides also stressed all the more expansion of bilateral ties between Iran and Turkey. A meeting with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei is also on Erdogan's agenda, according to a statement released on Saturday. The second session of Iran-Turkey High Cooperation Council is also planned to be held with the cabinet members of the two countries in attendance. At the session, the two sides will discuss a whole host of issues, including Tehran-Ankara bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues. A number of MoUs will also be signed, and the two presidents will then attend a joint press conference. The visit which is the first presidential one to Iran from Turkey in the last four years has been made at the invitation of President Rouhani. The first meeting of Iran-Turkey High Cooperation Council was held during Rouhani’s visit to Ankara in June 9, 2014.
