Rouhani inaugurates conf. on women, moderation, development

TEHRAN, Feb. 07 (MNA) – The second National Conference on Women, Moderation, and Development was inaugurated by President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday at Tehran's Islamic Summit Conference Hall. The second National Conference on Women, Moderation, and Development aims to probe into doctrines, approaches and concepts of moderation in order to give a prudent response to women's hope for further participation in various processes on cultural, political, and economic development. The event which was inaugurated by President Hassan Rouhani Sunday morning is also attended by Shahindokht Molaverdi, Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, Chairman of the National Library of Iran, as well as a number of other government officials. In this conference, the discourse of moderation will be discussed as a means for strengthening the social position of women as agents of development in various fields. 75 percent of writers of papers to be presented during the conference are women, which shows the powerful presence of women in the domain of thought and theoretical thinking about women's issues. The papers have been published in four volumes and will be unveiled by President Rouhani today. The conference also features six round tables on ‘moderation, women's demands, religion and citizenship rights in contemporary Iran’, ‘comparative and theoretical patterns in moderation and gender justice’, ‘moderation, quality of everyday life and women’s social responsibility’, ‘moderation and the role of women in management and politics’, ‘moderation, women's employment and economic development’, and ‘moderation and participation of women in the fields of education, culture and art.’
