Rouhani, Pahor discuss US presidency's impact on intl. ties

TEHRAN, Nov. 22 (MNA) – In a Tue. meeting in Tehran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor conferred on the possible impacts of Trump’s presidency on international and regional developments. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated that in a joint press conference that followed his earlier meeting with President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, in Tehran, adding the two sides also discussed economic cooperation and investment, technological, cultural and scientific cooperation, as well as expanding tourism, combating terrorism and extremism, and the issue of immigration. Rouhani put particular emphasis on technological cooperation with Slovenia, saying “the MoU that was signed today in the presence of the two presidents was in the field of ICT and nanotechnology. This indicates the two countries’ resolve for expanding technological cooperation.” The Slovenian President, for his part, noted Iran’s commitment to the nuclear deal, and called on other parties to the agreement to do the same; “Iran’s nuclear deal is a signal that all international conflicts can be resolved through diplomatic approaches and dialogues,” he said. He went on to add, “the normalization of relations between Iran and the international community has provided Slovenia with a second opportunity to improve its ties with the Islamic Republic to a normal level.” “We believe that there are no obstacles to the expansion of relations between the two countries, and that we hold common views on many issues,” President Pahor said, adding “the Iranian and Slovenian governments are committed to make efforts for achieving peaceful solutions to the conflicts in the world.” The Slovenian President heading a high-ranking trade delegation was officially welcomed by President Rouhani on Tuesday. The delegation is set to take part in an economic forum in Tehran later today.
