Rowhani: Strong Gov't To Maintain Strength By Parliament’s Side

Tehran, July 15, IRNA – President-elect Hassan Rowhani said here Sunday in a meeting with people’s representatives at Parliament that a strong and capable government would definitely maintain its strength and capability side by side with a strong Parliament. “The government and the Parliament are two main pillars at the service of the country’s progress,” said Hojjatoleslam Rowhani at the fast-breaking ‘Eftar’ feast of the Islamic Parliament in his honor, Sunday evening. He reiterated, “The benefits of the Parliament’s strength would be for the government, before the Parliament itself.” Rowhani reiterated, “In the future government we would welcome the supervisions, the criticisms, the questions, and even the impeachments of the Parliament, and highly appreciate them, because the basis of our work would be cooperation between the two branches of power.” Islamic Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, too, said as the host of the Sunday evening fast-breaking feast that President-elect Hassan Rowhani is a parliamentary politician, as he has spent many years serving in different positions in parliament and thus his today’s presence here is return to his real self. “ Rowhani has today accepted the heavy responsibility of the executive power,” said Larijani, after welcoming the president-elect to the Parliament Sunday evening for his first consultation with the people’s representatives. The Parliament Speaker added, “Rowhani has also served many years as the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and is well familiar with the country’s major concerns.” Larijani expressed hope that Rowhani’s long years of service at the Parliament and the SNSC would help him pave the path for solving the country’s problems sagaciously under the current sensitive conditions when Iran is faced with complicated issues./end
