Ruling party: Note delivery illogical in Azerbaijani-Iranian relations

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 22 / Trend E. Mehdiyev / Communications between Iran and Azerbaijan in diplomatic notes is illogical, Deputy Chairman, Executive Secretary of ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov told media today. He said Tehran's note to the Azerbaijani side was unfounded. Iran and Azerbaijan are neighbors and it is necessary to make efforts to maintain good neighborly relations. "The Azerbaijani side makes every effort to maintain good relations with Iran," he said. "I would like the Iranian side to demonstrate the same efforts." He noted that there is a huge number of Azerbaijanis in Iran. More than half of Iran's population are ethnic Azerbaijanis.
