Russia’s Security Council head discusses security issues with Indonesian, South African officials

ULAN UDE, June 24. /TASS/. Russian Security Council’s Secretary Nikolay Patrushev has discussed international security issues at meetings with high-ranking representatives of Indonesia and South Africa, the council’s press service said on Wednesday. The talks took place ahead of an international meeting of security representatives of more than 60 countries which will start in Russia’s south Siberian city of Ulan Ude on Wednesday. Patrushev held consultations on different aspects of international security with Indonesia’s minister for political, legal and security affairs Edhy Purdijanto. "The sides exchanged opinion on the situation in the Asia-Pacific, discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation between law enforcement agencies, cooperation in emergency relief and fighting against drugs distribution," the press service said. Patrushev and Purdijanto signed a memorandum on understanding between the Russian Security Council and Indonesia’s ministry for political, legal and security affairs. Patrushev also met with South Africa’s Minister of State Security David Mahlobo. Patrushev and Mahlobo discussed cooperation in fighting terrorism and increasing efficiency of cooperation between special services of the two countries. Read more
