Russia to adequately, coherently respond to NATO military approach to RF borders - Putin

MOSCOW, July 22 (Itar-Tass) - Russia will adequately and coherently respond to the approach of NATO military infrastructure to the RF borders, RF President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Russian Security Council on Tuesday. “We will adequately and coherently respond to the approach of NATO military infrastructure to our borders and will not overlook the deployment of the global missile defence system and building up of the strategic precision weapons’ stockpiles,” he said. “We are often told that the missile defence system is defensive,” Putin noted. “Nothing of the sort, it’s an offensive system, it’s part of the U.S. offensive defence system moved to the periphery.” “No matter what our foreign colleagues say, we see very well what is really happening,” the president told the meeting participants. “Factually, the NATO troops group in the territory of East European states is ostentatiously reinforced, including in the areas of the Black and Baltic Seas,” he said. “The scale and intensity of the operational and combat training are growing,” the president added. He believes that “in view of this, it is necessary to fully and on time implement all the measures for the strengthening of the country’s defence capability, including in Crimea, Sevastopol where we have to rebuild military infrastructure almost from scratch.” Learn more on itar-tass.com
