Russia and Belarus will insist on granting EAEU observer status at UN General Assembly

MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. Russia and Belarus will insist on granting an observer status at UN General Assembly to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Belarusian Acting Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said on Tuesday after the collegium session of Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries. "As an EAEU chair, Belarus submitted a draft resolution in New York last week on granting EAEU the observer status at UN General Assembly," Makei said. "It is an important step toward internationally positioning our union, toward EAEU’s integration into the system of international organizations," he added. "We hope that by joint efforts, Belarus, Russia and other member countries of the union will be able to secure the adoption of this decision by UN General Assembly," Makei said. Read more
