Russia and Vietnam hold almost identical approaches to solution of global and regional problems, Putin says

SOCHI, November 25 /TASS/. Russia and Vietnam hold almost identical views on the solution of many global and regional problems, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday. “We hold almost identical approaches to the solution of many global and regional problems,” Putin said after talks with Nguyen Phu Trong, the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Russia attaches great importance to deepening foreign policy coordination with Vietnam, Putin said. President Vladimir Putin and Nguyen Phu Trong met each other earlier on Tuesday. “Relations between Russia and Vietnam have seen dynamic development. We maintain relations at a high political level,” Putin said at the meeting with the Vietnamese Communist Party leader. “Reciprocal trade grew by almost 9% last year while Russian investments /in Vietnam/ have reached 9 billion U.S. dollars,” the Russian president said adding that Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to Russia would give an additional impetus to bilateral ties. Nguyen Phu Trong, in turn, told Putin that he was happy to visit a wonderful and hospitable country like Russia. He also noted a high level of relations between Vietnam and Russia adding it was particularly important in the light of preparations for the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries due to be marked next year. “Vietnam has always regarded Russia as one of its leading partners,” the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam said. He added that the purpose of his visit to Russia was to improve the quality of bilateral relations and that over the past two days he had met the speakers of the Russian State Duma and the Federation Council, the lower and upper chambers of Russian parliament; Russian government representatives and other Russian friends and partners. All the talks were meaningful and passed in a friendly atmosphere, Nguyen Phu Trong said. Read more
