Russia, Azerbaijan have relations of strategic partnership - Putin

TEHRAN, November 1. /TASS/. Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, have held talks in Tehran prior to a trilateral summit with Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani. "I am very pleased to meet you, this time in Tehran. We have regular meetings and hold phone talks, remain in constant contact. It is natural because the relations between our states are of special nature and, without doubt, it is the nature of a strategic partnership," Putin said at a meeting with Aliyev. Joint efforts to boost the relations have not been in vain. The trade growth can serve an example since over the first nine months it increased by nearly 62%. "We work in other spheres and maintain regular consultations on regional issues," Putin said. "I am very delighted to see you in bilateral talks." For his part, Aliyev noted that the meeting was not the first in 2017 and "each of the meetings produces good results." "We are giving a new impetus to our relations. We are very pleased that in the economic sector the trade is on the rise after certain complicated processes," Aliyev said, adding that proved the two countries’ business structures had vast mutual interests. "Our relationship with Russia is strategic and we name it as such. We cooperate in all spheres, namely in humanitarian, economic, military and technical fields, in energy and transport," Azerbaijan’s president said. "Therefore, they are full-fledged relations of friends, neighbors and close partners." Aliyev pointed out that Wednesday’s summit of three leaders "is a global-level milestone event." "This cooperation is based on deep historical roots and on mutual interests and the support the three countries provide [to one another] in the international arena," Aliyev said. Read more
