Russia believes Brazil, India, South Africa should become permanent UN Security Council members - diplomat

MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. Moscow believes that Brazil, India and South Africa are worthy candidates to join the UN Security Council on a permanent basis, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s special envoy, Vadim Lukov, said on Wednesday. The UN Security Council’s permanent member-states are Russia, the United States, China, France and the United Kingdom. Another 10 countries are elected in the Security Council every two years. "Russia believes that Brazil, India and South Africa are dignified candidates for joining the UN Security Council /on a permanent basis/," the diplomat said. The diplomat added that this decision should not be taken at the level of the BRICS bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) but as part of the United Nations system. Read more
