Russia, China should step up cooperation on issues of global governance - Council on International Affairs

MOSCOW, May 31. /TASS/. Moscow and Beijing face the task of ensuring closer cooperation on key issues of global governance, President of the Russian Council on International Affairs Igor Ivanov said at the international conference "Russia and China: to the new quality of bilateral relations" on Tuesday. Ivanov expressed confidence that the conference will be useful for developing Russian-Chinese cooperation because higher level of relations envisages more complex issues of cooperation. "We want to emphasize today not the existing indisputable achievements but rather those problems that Russia and China will still have to resolve," he said. "Our countries are not indifferent to the fact that, due to geopolitical ambitions of US and their partners, Russia and China found themselves outside of the framework of two new geo-economic projects - Trans-Pacific Partnership and Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership," Ivanov noted. "The dynamic of developing modern relations sets the task in front of Russia and China to cooperate more closely on key issues of global governance so that our countries continue to play the role appropriate to their status in the process of forming the new world order," he noted. The Russian Council on International Affairs is a non-profit organization established on 2 February 2010 by the Russian president’s decree. The aim of the Council is to facilitate the resolution of Russia’s foreign policy tasks.
