Russia, China to sign program on cooperation during Eastern Economic Forum

DALIAN /China/, August 21. /TASS/. Russia and China plan to sign a program on cooperation between Russia’s Far East and Baikal regions and Northeast China. They will sign the agreement during the Eastern Economic Forum in September, Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev stated on Tuesday during a plenary session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Chinese Commission on Cooperation and Development of the Far East and Baikal Region of the Russian Federation and Northeast China. "Today, during the commission’s session, we need to find answers to the questions that arise within the framework of our cooperation. We have already told Mr. Hu Chunhua (Chinese Vice Premier - TASS) that we need to work on signing a joint program," Trutnev said. According to him, they have agreed on basic approaches to "what needs to be changed so that the program would be ready by the Eastern Economic Forum." "We need to discuss practical measures on all other issues, so that during the meeting of our countries’ leaders, we will be able to report on what we have achieved, and not on the processes. Let’s do this job," the deputy PM noted. The Eastern Economic Forum is an annual event aimed at facilitating the development of Russia’s Far East and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The next forum is scheduled to take place in Vladivostok on September 11-13. South Korean leader Moon Jae-in and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are expected to attend the event. According to some estimations, about 7,000 people will attend the forum. TASS is the event’s general information partner, official photo hosting agency and moderator of the investment projects’ presentation zone. Read more
