Russia coordinates with Damascus its actions during operation in Syria - Syrian Foreign Minister

UNITED NATIONS, October 1. /TASS/. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem has said that he discussed with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov the air strikes on the positions of the Islamic State group. "Yes, we discussed this," he said. "All Russia’s actions have been coordinated with the Syrian side." Muallem also said answering numerous questions that the operation had begun on Wednesday, and "it is too early to talk about it." Earlier on Wednesday, the upper house of the Russian parliament unanimously gave the president approval to use the Russian Armed Forces abroad. Kremlin chief of staff Sergey Ivanov noted "it was solely the operation of the Russian Air Force" against Islamic State in Syria at the request of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier said that Russian troops would not take part in the ground operations. Read more
