Russia, Egypt confirm need of resolving Syrian crisis on basis of Geneva Communique

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. Russia and Egypt have confirmed the need for a peaceful resolution of the Syrian crisis on the basis of the Geneva Communique, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said on Wednesday following talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "We have confirmed the need for the political settlement of the Syrian crisis in accordance with the provisions of the Geneva Communique," el-Sisi said. According to him, Russia and Egypt also confirmed the importance of the settlement of the Palestinian problem on the basis of granting the Palestinian people "the legitimate right to establish a state with the capital in East Jerusalem." The two leaders also discussed the situation in Yemen, Iraq and Libya and "the ways of countering terrorism, which threatens all of us," el-Sisi said. " "We have a common understanding that this phenomenon was a consequence of the creation of hotbeds of tension in the Middle East, which makes us develop cooperation and seeks solutions to the problem with the guarantee of preserving the integrity of the countries in the region," the Egyptian leader said.
