Russia Envoy : Unilateral Sanctions Against Iran Won't Help Settle Nuclear Issue

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA – Russia Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said unilateral sanctions against Iran would not help settle nuclear issue. According to Ria-Novosti news agency, Churkin said Russia believes imposing unilateral sanctions will affect international community measures to settle Iran nuclear program. He said that unilateral sanctions against Tehran in some cases have an extra-border nature and are not acceptable according to international laws. Ria-Novosti added US and a number of western countries think that Iran is building nuclear weapons under cover of its peaceful nuclear program. Iran has always denied accusations and has said that Iran's nuclear program is merely for energy needs./end
