Russia, India have no differences, with political and economic relations being at high level - Russian lawmaker

NEW DELHI, February 26. /TASS/. Russia and India have no differences, with political and economic relations between them being at a high level, Alexei Pushkov, the chairman of the international committee of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house, said on Thursday. He said today’s meeting of the Russian parliamentary delegation led by State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin with speaker of the House of the People /lower house of the Indian parliament/ Sumitra Mahajan was held in a good atmosphere. "The meeting was held, to my mind, in a very good atmosphere. We have practically no serious differences with India. I think we have no non-serious differences either. The two sides have very high political and economic level of the development of relations. Now it is supplemented with cooperation in the multi-party format. Both Russia and India are members of the BRICS /an acronym standing for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa/, an organization which is gaining momentum," Pushkov said. He noted that the Indian side had stressed that cooperation within the BRICS deserved all-round support. "It is one of those factors that help stabilize the present-day international system in conditions of instability, when we witness a great number of crises stemming from attempts to preserve a unipolar world," the Russian lawmaker said. Pushkov said that the Russian delegation had discussed with the Indian colleagues a wide spectrum of issues. "There were practically no arguments. We are mutually complementary with India in this respect. They put forth a set of proposals and we consider them. We put forth our proposals and they consider them. But actually, these proposals are on the same track aiming to create more diversified trade and economic cooperation, to strengthen political and parliamentary ties," he noted. Read more
