Russia, India to strengthen cooperation within bilateral consultations - Shoigu

NEW DELHI, January 21. /TASS/. Russia’s and India’s General Staffs will strengthen cooperation within the bilateral consultations, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday. “We’re satisfied with the fact that last year we succeeded in implementing several new projects of military cooperation,” he said after talks with his Indian counterpart Manohar Parrikar. Shoigu cited the first talks between the Russian and Indian General Staffs as an example. The talks were held in October 2014. “We believe that the exchange of views on regional and global security was useful. Russia shares the experience in the army reform,” he said. “We’re ready for regular consultations in Moscow this year,” Shoigu added. Moscow invited Indian specialists to study the training base of the Humanitarian Mine Clearance Centre, which was created in Russia last year. “We consider this project promising due to the tasks to counter the existing challenges and threats, primarily to terrorism,” Shoigu said.
