Russia, Israel interested in drawing positions on key problems close together

MOSCOW, May 30. /TASS/. Russia has interest in developing diversified and mutually beneficial cooperation with Israel and in bringing positions of both countries on international problems closer to each other, officials at the Russian Defence Ministry said on Saturday after a meeting in Singapore between the Israeli Defence Minister, Amos Gilad, and the Russian Deputy Minister of Defence, Anatoly Antonov. Antonov and Gilad met on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue international conference on cooperation in Asia. "Anatoly Antonov said in the course of the meeting the Russian Federation was interested in developing a diversified mutually beneficial cooperation with Israel and in an earliest possible bridging of the two countries positions on the main international problems," a report said. "Antonov also told Gilad that Russia would be interested in mutually beneficial cooperation with Israel," it said. The talks were marked by a fruitful and respectful atmosphere and reaffirmed the closeness of Russia and Israel’s positions on the main problems of international security. "The sides agreed to continue the dialogue," Defence Ministry officials said. Read more
