Russia, Japan revive strategic dialog, says senior Russian diplomat

MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. A strategic dialog between Russia and Japan has resumed and will continue given a number of upcoming events of major importance for bilateral relations, Russia’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov said prior to consultations with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Shinsuke Sugiyama on Thursday. "We are resuming our strategic dialog after a break within the context of upcoming events scheduled in our bilateral agenda. These are very important events," Titov said before the meeting continued behind closed doors. Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the sides will consider the whole range of bilateral ties, as well as the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and in the Middle East. The sides "expect to discuss prospects for the development of the whole set of bilateral relations with due regard for the task to ensure efficient preparations for the upcoming political contacts at the high and summit levels," the report said.
