Russia and Japan should step up foreign policy cooperation on key issues on the international agenda, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after the first round of Russian-Japanese talks on concluding a peace treaty within the framework of the format agreed by the leaders of the two countries in December. He believes that Russia and Japan should "qualitatively step up cooperation in foreign policy and the international scene."
