Russia pursues responsible foreign policy, open to dialogue - Putin

MOSCOW, July 19. /TASS/. Moscow pursues a consistent and independent foreign policy and is ready for dialogue with other countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of Russian ambassadors and envoys. "Given the rapidly changing and eventful situation in the world, Russia pursues consistent and independent foreign policy," he said. "We are open to partnership and constructive relations with all countries," Putin added. According to him, Russia’s participation in global affairs stemmed from the country’s major national interest, which is to create conditions for Russia’s breakthrough development aimed at resolving social and economic issues and improving the quality of people’s lives. Putin stressed that as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Russia was determined to continue defending the fundamental principles enshrined in the UN Charter, which concern the sovereignty and equality of states and non-interference in other countries’ domestic affairs. "I am confident that following the path of international law, we can resolve the most complicated global issues," the Russian president pointed out. Putin said that Russia’s allies in a number of international organizations shared the country’s determination to ensure global security and stability.
