Russia ready to interact with Lebanon in combating terrorism, IS - Putin

MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Russian president Vladimir Putin has sent a telegram of condolences to the speaker of the Lebanese parliament, Nabih Berri, in connection with casualties as a result of a terrorist attack in a Beirut suburb, the Kremlin press service reported on Friday. Putin expressed the hope that the masterminds and perpetrators of this crime will get the punishment they deserve, adding that Russia is ready to most closely interact with the Lebanese authorities in the fight against terrorism, in particular, the Islamic State extremist group. The Russian president conveyed the words of condolences and support to the families of those killed in the attack, as well as wished the injured a speedy recovery. Two suicide bombers on motorbikes blew themselves up on a crowded street in a southern Beirut suburb Thursday, killing at least 41 people and wounding more than 200 in an attack claimed by IS and one of the deadliest to strike the country since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, local officials said. The two blasts went off near the Mansour shopping centre and Ain Al Siki in Bourj al-Barajneh, Lebanon's state broadcaster said. Read more
