Russia, Saudi Arabia to contribute to struggle with terrorism together, says Putin

MOSCOW, May 28. /TASS/. Russia and Saudi Arabia can contribute to struggle with terrorism and to settling the current problems in the Persian Gulf area, as well as in the Middle East at large, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday at a ceremony where the newly appointed foreign ambassadors handed in their credentials. One of the attendees was the Saudi Arabian ambassador, Abdurrahman Al Rassi. "Russia and Saudi Arabia’s joint efforts could facilitate the straightening out of the situation in the Middle East, revitalization of the Palestinian-Israeli talks, and the maintenance of peace and stability in the Gulf through a more efficacious fighting with terrorism and extremism," Putin said. He also confirmed Russia’s resolve to develop all-round relations with Saudi Arabia. In this connection, Putin recalled "a very useful telephone conversation with King Salman bin Abudlaziz" at the end of April. Read more
