Russia Supports Formation Of Trilateral Committee On Syria

Moscow, Nov 5, IRNA -- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said that his country supports the idea of formation of a trilateral committee comprising Iran, Turkey and Russia for resolving the Syrian crisis. 'We welcome any kind of negotiations for resolving the Syrian crisis and putting an end to the violence in that country while considering establishing contacts in this field as positive,' he said. Bogdanov also said that the Russian officials during talks with the UN-Arab League Joint Envoy on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, have announced their readiness to review the deployment of international observers and peacekeepers in Syria. 'Accordingly, we are ready to review the ways for implementation of Geneva agreements of the contact group on Syria based on the principles of holding talks between the Syrian government and Syrian opposition forces and also restoring full and guaranteed ceasefire in Syria,' he said. Bogdanov said that Guaranteed ceasefire means deployment of the United Nations observers and peacekeepers is Syria after the Syrian government agrees with the same. 'In view of differences among Syrian opposition groups, the ceasefire can be reached between the Syrian army and different opposition groups with the UN mediation in different parts of Syria./end
