Russia supports Tunisia’s stabilization efforts - Lavrov

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Moscow considers regular exchange of opinions with Tunisia on regional and international affairs as very important, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday at a meeting with his Tunisian counterpart Khemaies Jhinaoui. "After you completed your mission in Moscow as an ambassador in 2011, you have not forgotten Russia and visited it often," Lavrov said adding that "we are happy to welcome you as a minister and co-chair of inter-governmental commission." According to Lavrov, Russia is watching the progress in political dilaogue in Tunisia with great sympathy. "Parliamentary election has passed which allows to stabilize the situation, and we support that," the Russian foreign minister said. "Today we want to discuss in detail the whole range of bilateral relations. In July we will mark the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. A lot has already been done but our potential is much broader. We need to see how we can use it," Lavrov said. "Of course, we want to discuss cooperation on regional and international issues, coordination in UN," he noted. "In the current uneasy conditions in the region, regular exchange of opinion is especially important," he concluded. Read more
