Russia Warns Against Blocking Iran's Role In Anti-Daesh Fight

Moscow, Oct 22, IRNA – Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitally Churkin warned against preventing Iran from fighting with the ISIL terrorists. He said the tendency of the anti-Daesh international coalition to prevent Iran and Syria from confronting the terrorist group will make it harder to tackle the problem. He described Iran and Russia as two natural allies in the anti-Daesh campaign. Churkin also warned against the outcomes of West's support for the opponents of the Syrian government and said this would deteriorate the armed clashes. Russian officialls have repeatedly underlined Iran's effective role in fighting Daesh terrorists. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Iran should participate in settling problems in the Middle East region, including the Daesh crisis. Lavrov referred to Iran as a great Islamic country whose active participation in settling problems in the Middle East is necessary./end
