Russian Analyst: Iranˈs N-issue Can Be Settled Based On Intˈl Norms

Moscow, July 7, IRNA - A senior Russian analyst has recently said making any discriminatory move in dealing with Iranˈs nuclear case would be unacceptable as the issue could be settled based on international norms. Member of the Governing board of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), Russian Academy of Sciences, Gennady Chufrin told IRNA in a recent exclusive interview that West has been trying to portray Iranˈs peaceful nuclear program as a global threat. Chufrin, also chairman of the editorial board of “Russia and New Eurasian States” magazine, added that most of the so-called evidences submitted to the International Atomic Energy Agency and the United Nations Security Council against Iranˈs peaceful nuclear activities have not been confirmed. That few countries are skeptical of a nationˈs activities is not enough to call that nation an international threat, Chufrin stressed. He also criticized Westˈs double standards vis-à-vis Iranˈs peaceful nuclear activities. Noting that talks should be continued between Iran and the G5+1 representatives, the Russian Analyst expressed hope that the two sides would resume their talks within coming weeks./end
