Russian Analyst: Lifting Anti-Iran Sanctions, Key To Settle Nuclear Dispute

Moscow, July 14, IRNA - President of the National and International Security Foundation of Russia Leonid Shershnev said that the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions is the key to resolving Tehran nuclear dispute. Criticizing the insufficiency of western statesˈ sanctions against Iran, the retired major general told IRNA in a recent exclusive interview that those sanctions had failed to settle any tensions between western states and Iran over its peaceful nuclear activities. Shershnev, a former head of Russiaˈs military space intelligence, added the sanctions had adverse effects on Iranˈs nuclear program. The West has admitted that its unreasonable policy towards Iran has only added to the speed of Tehranˈs nuclear activities. West has to realize that it could never achieve its goals at the international level through such measures, Shershnev stressed. The Russian analyst further criticized sanctions on export of medicine to Iran. ˈWhat is the relationship between atomic weapons and delivering medicines to a country. No one can answer this question as it has no logical response,ˈ he said. He added that such moves would only unveil the inhuman nature of the US and its allies./end
