Russian-Armenian dialogue developing successfully - Putin

YEREVAN, November 21. /TASS/. Relations between Moscow and Yerevan are developing successfully, the parties are promoting joint initiatives in economy, the energy sector, transport and military-technical cooperation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his message on the occasion of the opening of the historical and documentary exhibition titled "Russia-Armenia: Time-Tested Friendship" in Yerevan read out by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday. "It is important that the Russian-Armenian dialogue is successfully developing and is filled with real deeds and plans for the future. The two countries are promoting joint initiatives in economy, the energy sector, transport and military-technical cooperation, step up cooperation in culture, science and education and support each other on the world stage," the document reads. The Russian president also expressed confidence that "the exhibition will be a major event in the life of the two countries, while the items presented there will demonstrate the special confidential nature of bilateral relations." "Russia and Armenia are not just good neighbors. We share common pages of history, pride in the exploits of our ancestors, the traditions of friendship and mutual understanding, which we sincerely cherish," Putin noted. For his part, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian noted that the two peoples are connected by many threads, adding that "the scope and depth of our relations speak for themselves." He also recalled that, over the past ten years, more than one hundred meetings between the two countries’ leaders took place and noted that such an impressive figure is a natural thing for the allied nations. For his part, Lavrov cancelled the Armenian postage stamp dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Read more
