Russian, Azerbaijani FMs note active high-level dialogue between countries

MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. The foreign ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan, Sergey Lavrov and Elmar Mamedyarov, meeting in Moscow on Monday, have pointed to an active high-level dialogue between the two countries which enables them to resolve "every single issue" of bilateral cooperation. "We are glad to welcome you in Moscow," Lavrov said, opening the meeting. "We appreciate the opportunity to hold talks as part of your official visit," he said, adding that the two sides had "clearly formulated" tasks set for them by the leaders of the two countries. "The presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan regularly meet. They are engaged in a constructive dialogue which makes it possible to create conditions for resolving every single issue," Lavrov said. Mamedyarov said he was planning to discuss all aspects of bilateral cooperation. "I hope we can move forward in fulfilling our presidents' assignments," he said, noting that the tasks given by the two leaders provided evidence of "a high level of relations between our countries". Mamedyarov recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin was expected to attend the opening ceremony of the inaugural European Games in Baku on June 12. "There are plans to discuss specific issues of the current agenda," he said. "Our relations are at a high level and continue to develop fruitfully," he said, adding that two-way trade was growing and the countries worked together within international organisations. Read more
