Russian to change UN Security Council meetings on Yemen and Iraq to open discussions format - Russia’s Permanent Representative to UN

Russian is going to change the meetings of the United Nations Security Council on Yemen and Iraq that will be held in the coming weeks to the format of open discussions, according to Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin. On Wednesday, the UN Security Council held a tense debate on the humanitarian situation in Syria, a when a number of Western countries accused Russia, including the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Stephen O'Brien. Churkin said that the discussion between the members of the Security Council was supposed to be in the form of private consultations, but it had to be changed to an open format after the Stephen O'Brien’s speech.
