Russian, Chinese foreign ministers to meet in Moscow on April 7

MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Russian and Chinese Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi will hold talks in Moscow on April 7, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday. Alexander Lukashevich said the ministers will focus on preparations for the upcoming top-level contacts, uncluding the joint celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War. The sides will also discuss other issues, including Russia's presidency in the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the spokesman added. The Chinese foreign minister will be staying in Russia on April 6-8. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier that Chinese leader Xi Jinping had confirmed plans to attend Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on May 9. According to Russian presidential chief of staff Sergey Ivanov, President Vladimir Putin will visit Beijing in September to take part in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the victory in World War II.
