Russian, Chinese top diplomats discuss preparations for Putin’s visit to China, Xi’s visit to Russia

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. On February 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi held talks on the sidelines of a trilateral meeting between the top diplomats of Russia, China and India, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday. "The parties focused on preparations for this year’s main bilateral political events: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s participation in the second One Belt One Road high-level forum on international cooperation, set to be held in Beijing in April, and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum," the statement reads. The Russian and Chinese foreign ministers also discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation and coordination on the international stage, with the emphasis on interaction between Russia, India and China. Besides, they exchanged views on pressing international issues, including arms control, disarmament, non-proliferation, the situations in Venezuela, Afghanistan and on the Korean Peninsula and the Syrian conflict," the Russian Foreign Ministry added. "The talks resulted in the signing of the 2019 plan of consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries," the statement said. Read more
