Russian defence chief, Pakistani premier satisfied with military cooperation resumption

ISLAMABAD, November 20. /TASS/. Pakistani Prime Minister Navaz Sharif received in the government residence on Thursday Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and expressed satisfaction with the resumption of military cooperation between Moscow and Islamabad. “I’m glad that we resumed our co-operation and I hope it will be dynamic and diversified,” the Pakistani prime minister said. He said he extended an invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit the country. “I hope the president will respond to it,” Sharif added. Russia and Pakistan signed on Thursday a bilateral military co-operation agreement that “provides the legal framework for our further steps in this sphere,” Shoigu said. According to him, the two countries “have many issues to discuss and many questions to solve.” “I look forward to preparing our joint projects in the military co-operation sphere,” said the Russian defence minister. He said that the commanders-in-chief of the Russian Air Force, Navy and Ground Forces have visited Pakistan this year. Read more
