Russian diplomat, Syrian opposition leader discuss progress at Geneva talks - Russian foreign ministry

MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. Russian president’s envoy for the Middle East and African countries and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Qadri Jamil, one of the leaders of the Moscow-Cairo Syrian opposition group, to discuss progress at the intra-Syrian peace talks in Geneva, the Russian foreign ministry said on Monday. "The sides discussed in detail topical issues of further progress in the process of political settlement in Syria following the results of the first round of the intra-Syrian talks mediated by United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura which were held in Geneva under the United Nations auspices and ended on March 24," the ministry said. Indirect talks between the Syrian government and opposition ended in Geneva on March 24. Another round of talks is expected to begin on April 11. Read more
