Russian envoy: Moscow adopts identical stand with Tehran

Tehran, Nov 18, IRNA - Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergei Naryshkin said on Monday that economic sanctions imposed on Iran are politically-motivated and has nothing to do with the international law. Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, he said Moscow's stand is identical with Tehran. He said that he reviewed issues of mutual interests with Iranian officials and ways to deepen political dialogue and expansion of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. Moscow regards Tehran as guarantror of stability in the region as well as in the world, he said. In his meeting with Larijani, the two speakers studied international developments. He said that in most cases their stands were closer or identical. Moscow is opposed to the wrong approach of the western governments for escalation of crisis in the region and the world and believes that international law should be respected and the governments should be barred from interference in the domestic issues of the others, he said. Meanwhile, the two speakers exchanged views on campaign with drug trafficking and terrorism. The Russian speaker of State Duma proposed that Iran to attend at an observer at the Parliamentary Assembly of the United Nations Security Council which will be useful for the stability and security of the region. He extended an invitation to the Iranian parliament speaker to visit Moscow. The economic cooperation between Iran and Russia is on a growing trend, he said. The Russian speaker of State Duma said that cooperation in oil, gas, transport, nuclear energy and agriculture are underway to benefit both sides. /end
